If ever there was a car made for the times, this would seem to be it: a sporty subcompact that seats five, offers a navigation system and gets a whopping 65 miles to the gallon. Oh, yes, and the car is made by Ford Motor (F, news, msgs), known widely for lumbering gas hogs.

I think the truth is that Ford is in bed with the oil companies and does not want to tick any of their buddies off by bringing a car to the U.S., a country who is the highest consumer of oil and gas in the world. Let all of them go under.
I wouldn't really want to buy a diesel because of the smell.
It seems to me that Ford doesn't think it is good business sense to bring a diesel to the U.S. market.
I did not know diesel vehicles put out a smell??? they are louder.
